From September 30th to October 2nd the Old Type Music Society is hosting the GillBilly 2016 Music & Fishing Festival and we invite you to join in the fun!
What is a Fernie Gillbilly you might ask?
Gillbilly is two full days of music and fun hosted by the The Old Type Music Society. A perfect mix of old-time music, jamming, food, good times and plenty of free time for fishing on the Elk River. Not into fishing? bring your bike, hike or do some busking downtown in beautiful Fernie, BC. More information about the schedule and format here.
Confirmed performer/instructors are Chris Coole (Lonesome Ace Stringband, Foggy Hogtown Boys) and Ben Winship (Growling Old Men, New Reeltime Travellers) and recently added to the lineup is Eli West (Cahalen Morrison & Eli West, The Lomax Project). Rounding out the concerts and beginner workshops will be local yokels Redgirl and new East Kootenay duo The Doggone Brothers. More details about the performers here.
The weekend will feature two concerts at the Arts Station, informal workshops on fishing, picking, hosted jams, and great food! All of this will take place in scenic downtown Fernie.
